I discovered this museum towards the end of my trip to Tokyo. It's accessible from the Oedo Subway line (E-14 station), but it's definitely in a suburban area.
The museum is a beautiful, spacious building and the exhibits were very well curated and quite interesting.

What a beautiful setting to see some contemporary Art. Even if "the art" does not grab you, the building will, including the delicious restaurant downstars.

In addition to its very interesting permanent exhibition, this museum is currently showing Kohei Nawa ‒ SYNTHESIS which contains exhibits that wowed not only us but also our teenage son and daughter. Parents of teenagers will know that that requires quite a lot :-)

Some of the BEST things to do on a rainy day for a tourist, is to visit the musuem. As it turns out, it is also one of the best things to do for the locals. The museum is crowded on Sept 30 2010. We decided to pay JPY1750 per person to see ALL the exhibits, permanent and temporary.
