This is a very nice temple to visit, but very crowded. There were people everywhere, alot of them school children. The walkway up to the shrine is lined with food and souvenir shops. It is a great way to try some of the street food. This is Tokyo's most popular temple. If you are going to see any temples in... More

Until I got to Asakusa, Tokyo had just felt like a huge city to me, in the vein of New York or Philadelphia, but this district was truly unique and comfortable and helped me to discover the essence of Tokyo. There is a fantastic shopping district leading up to a massive gate and temple/shrine complex. Well worth visiting, a fun... More

Asakusa Sensoji Temple is a landmark in Tokyo. Having a picture of you with the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) marks your footsteps in the land of Japan; so you really don’t want to miss this. In the temple, you may draw an Omikuji, a prediction which tells your fortune either good or bad. The Japanese likes it a lot. Here you’ll... More

The visit to Asakusa really made my stay in Japan. It was so vibrant and happy and full of culture. We walked down the walkway lined with little shops to buy food and souvenirs, was definately part of the experience. We saw the big entrance gates, the temple, the tower. It was all beautiful and grand in its own way.... More

A must-go for Tokyo sightseers, Sensoji Temple is invariably packed with enjoyment and activities no matter when you paid it a visit. Conveniently located next to Asakusa metro station, the Buddhist shrine welcomes guests with an iconic great red lantern before myriad souvenir shops and sweetie stores excite your inward steps. Once passing through a Sakura line, you will find... More

I was lucky enough to visit while the cherry blossoms were blooming, it was so beautiful. I visited several times at different times of day (since my hotel was nearby), it's nicest in the early evening, when the buildings are lit up and there aren't too many other people around; but do also visit during the day when the main... A lovely walk through the grounds, very interesting look into Japanese history and if your lucky the great & good of Tokyo might be having their wedding there as it is a apparently an expensive option & the place to be seen. Also if you have kids its a great place to let them run off some energy. More
