The small hamlet of El Castillo is at the far end of a horrible dirt road past the volcano park. For what it’s worth, we decided it was better to drive fast rather than slow… it was just as bumpy but it didn’t last as long that way!

We stopped here without any expectations and were delighted with the visit. Great butterflies and friendly knowledgeable staff. Maybe a little expensive at $14 but after we saw the monkeys it was worth it!

A behind the scenes tour of hatchling butterflies. Four separate enclosures each representing a different ecosystem. So many butterflies as if flower blossoms flying. Beauty took my breath away!

The conservatory was amazing and so interesting. We were fascinated by how large it was with such a variety of butterflies. The guides were very informative. Definitely one of the best and educational values.

The people were incredibly knowledgeable, the butterflies beautiful, and I even got to hold a giant cockroach!
