Enjoyed the hike from Dazhai to PingAn amidst the rice terraces. Saw the local farmers at work while we found our way between the small village houses. Give yourself about 5-6 hours for a leisurely walk.

This was a magical place. I stayed in Dazhai for two evenings and hiked around the terraces for two days. My first day I stayed around Dazhai, the second day I planned to hike from Dazhai to Ping'an, but because of mudslides and road closures, I ended up hiking all the way to Huangluo (the long-haired village) to catch the...

May 2013 and I took the tour the hotel offered to the terraces. The ride there was interesting through the countryside (80 kms). Once at the terraces they are well signposted and we were welcome to walk through villages and see people at work in the fields. It was a slightly misty day and so the views were not clear...

We walked from Tiantouzhai to Ping'an in about 2 hours 45 minutes in the middle of the rice terraces. Views are breathtaking. Highly recommend.
The Rice Terraces were quite amazing to see. We were fortunate enough to have a driver and tour guide to take us there which made the journey (about two hours outside of Guilin) much more pleasant compared to the effort it would take to organize it on our own.
We went in March so we didn't have the intense greenery...

This was on my 2nd day of my tour in China. There had been landslides from heavy rain a couple of days before and the road to Pi-ang was blocked. Fortunately by the time we got to the bus transfer station, the road was partially open. So at the bus transfer station we got onto a small bus and proceeded...

We recently visited Longji rice terraces and booked the transport there via our guesthouse in Yangshuo. We had just arrived in China and this seemed easier than the doing it by public transport. Luckily we had read a previous post so had some idea what was in store on the journey. However our guesthouse failed to mention any of it...

Spending two nights in the Longji Rice Terraces was my favorite part of our entire China trip. Yes, it takes a long time to get here. And, yes, you have to pay 80CNY to enter the scenic area, and yes, the road is windy and narrow with landslides and steep drop-offs. But it is all so worth it! Admittedly, we...

We went in early April and it was kind of misty, with intermittent rain, and also a bit cold for us, having come into China through Vietnam. There was a big landslide on the road, a not uncommon occurrence, so be careful if you're on a tight schedule. You have to pay 80rmb each just to get into the area,...

We went to Longji Rice Terrace by joining a day tour fr a travel agent in Guilin. We did not follow the rest of the tour members who left around 4pm who barely had time to explore the place properly. We stayed back in Ping An Village for 2 days. The stunning views of the golden rice terrace (near harvesting)...
