I really enjoyed the Laxnes Special ride. What lovely animals! On arrival we were kitted out with helmets and offered gloves if we hadn't brought out own, then we were paired up with horses based on our previous experience. I've only ridden a couple of times (and a long time ago) and I was paired with a wonderful horse, very... More

One of our top things to do while in Iceland was to ride an Icelandic Horse! We chose Laxnes because of the good reviews and our expectations were exceeded in every capacity. They picked us up at our hotel and once at the farm they fitted us with our rain proof gear. I would advise using anything and everything they... More

Went for a 1 hour countryside horse ride with this family run enterprise. Friendly Collie dog on site and a Chihuahua dog too Gave us good horse riding gear, and a ride through country side including trip through the streams. Warm sitting area with delicious bread and cheese to nibble while your socks dry. No rushing around, no feeling of... More

We had a few hours to spare before going back to the airport so our hotel manager suggested horse riding with Laxnes Horse Farm. They picked us up from the hotel and dropped us back again afterwards. Everyone was very friendly and they pick out a horse to suit experience (or lack of it). They kit you out in waterproofs... More

We were picked up from our hotel by the Dad of the farm and when we arrived we were greeted by the Mum, Son and family dog who was adorable and did some tricks for us! All the family were friendly, fun and chatty. We were asked about our riding experience and kitted out with riding hats, boots etc whilst... More

There are two things that I feel everyone who travels to Iceland should do. The first is a trip around the Golden Circle and the next is meeting an Icelandic horse. Due to the ancient Icelandic Parliament prohibiting the importation of horses, the breed has remained unchanged for the last 1,000 years. During our adventures in Iceland, we took a... More

Our trip to Laxnes Horse Farm was fantastic and everything we hoped it would be. Myself, my partner and my daughter spent a marvelous morning with these gorgeous Icelandic horses. Myself and my daughter had only ever ridden once before, my partner more but not for years. My horse had a mind of her own but the lovely girl who... More

A group of 4 of us (all girls) went to Laxnes Horse Farm for what was described as a gentle pony trek through the countryside. I didn't get to see much of the countryside and surroundings as i had a death grip on the horse that i was given! We were all very much looking forward to the excursion and... More

Hi Suzie, Well first off, I´m sorry you didn´t enjoy the tour. I´m wondering why on Earth you didn´t approach us with this immediately though. You refer to basic safety gear such as helmets as "crash hats" and the horse as beast but did not bring this up AT the farm. Sure it´s easy to gripe from far away over... More

We went for a trek in January which was proberly abit dumb, as it was freezing cold. The stables provided all the winter riding gear and off we went. It was fantasic! The Icelandic horses are little heros. They are fantasic to ride, the 5th gait is so smooth, and very good natured. By far the calmest horses I've ever... More

I was a little bit disappointed with the riding experience. I have done things like that for many times and think that it´s not too much demanded to ride a circle and not just one way. I do understand that it´s not that easy to go out with riders of different levels but I also think that the guides should... More

Hi Sarah, I´m sorry you didn´t enjoy the tour. We use various routes usually selected by weather conditions in the winter season. I´m no quite sure what you mean when you say horses can be ridden for hours without a break. Even on cross country trail rides Icelanders usually ride on roughly 1 hour intervals and then take a break... More
