If you're looking for a way to get around the Mount Desert Island, even close to the ocean on a bike this is how to do it. We look forward to next summer when we have more time to explore them further.

One of the gems of this country. I am blessed to live nearby so I take advantage of fall and winter to ride and ski there. You can't find a better place in North America. Safe riding off the road for kids, elderly or just anyone. Trails all go past the most fabulous scenery on the east coast. Can't say... More

We walk these carriage roads every year and never tire of them. They are well maintained and are easy to walk. Spend some time exploring the island on these roads. It is well worth it.

We loved the wonderful views and this amazing feature of the park. We took a bike ride which about killed us. We were not prepared for the difficult uphill climbs, but we still enjoyed the trip. Next time I would do a little more research about which trail I was taking so I wouldn't be unprepared for the ride. There... More

The carriage trails are a great place to take an easy walk in Acadia. No hiking, no climbing, just nice views and a peaceful stroll...just be care of horse business.

Take your time to enjoy the quiet nature around you. Well suited for strollers, bicycles, or just a quiet walk in the woods. Bring your camera.

We did a carriage tour to explore the roads. We had so much fun! The roads are beautiful & very well maintained. We actually went on a very foggy day and I felt like that made it even more beautiful. There's a lot of interesting history surrounding the roads as well, and we were very interested in learning about them.... More

Beautiful scenic road traverses through varied natural settings not accessible by car. Gravelly path enhances the experience. Allow times for quiet stops, look at nature from a frog or birdseye view. Allow at least half a day for a leisurely biking, more during crowded days.

The carriage roads are well marked and well maintained. We biked around Eagle Lake and really enjoyed it.

Wish we could have seen more of the roads. Took a carriage tour which gave a good info on history and area. I think a bike might be a good way to go as there are 50+ miles of roads.
