There is a lot to see here. We particularly enjoyed that the mannequins were all designed to look like museum donors and volunteers. The amber/gum room in the basement was unnecessary, as we found it all to be slightly ugly and tacky. More

This amazing museum is the best I have seen. The displays are beautifully done especially the seperate rooms. So many of the exhibits have been donated which shows how much support they receive from the community. However long you have allowed for this attraction, double it. You will need a couple of hours at least. More

We certainly needed more time there. I was not convinced when my husband mentioned the museum, and what a surprise. Excelent displays that transported me to a time I had so little understaing of. I suggest go and see the giant Kauri trees first, and then stop here with plenty of time to do justice to this excellent museum More

we stayed at the Holiday Camp Matakohe and visited the museum first thing in the morning. We really enjoyed getting a feel for the settler's life in the area. We also admired the beautiful furniture made from kauri wood. More

This is a brilliant museum with loads to see and lots of interractive things to keep children amused. Definitely worth stopping at and good value too. More
