Maybe I'm being a little cynical but I wasn't very impressed with the dolphin discovery. My girlfriend and I visited on a cruise and participated in an excursion to this place. It was a little bit of an assembly line as far as I'm concerned. They hand everyone a life jacket, separate you into groups, take you to the dolphin... More

Little outside from Road Town centre. Pretty clean looking place with nice views. Dolphins looked like they were enjoying themselves, so no "animal cruelty" here. Unfortunately we couldn't get to swim with them, because there bus full of people before us. Our driver said that their prices may vary, so maybe it's good to check reservation and prices first.

My family went on this excursion and it was one I will always remember. Great for all ages. My kids are 3 and 6 and they did the experience along with their father and I did the swim. It was sooo much fun. We got a nice amount of time with the dolpins. The trainers are extremely nice and the... More

They were great! We had 3 in our group that did the Royal Swim, we had plenty of time with two dolphins and learned so much and got to really interact and swim with the dolphins. We did the Foot Push, Kiss, Dorsa, Handshake plus more. It was a great experience and learned so much about the Dolphins (Hippo was... More

NOTE: From the US Virgin Island, you will need your passport. I booked this tour while visiting St Thomas and staying the Sugar Bay resort. The tour cost me $129 per person, but free upgrade to the Royal. We took the ferry to Tortola at 8am. When we got there, we were met by a driver who took us to... More

Always check on-line at dolphin discovery.com for any "sale" going on. If you arrive by ship it takes approx. 10 minutes to get to the site. The dolphins look well cared for and ours was a rescue dolphin. It is very well run and organized...you start off watching a short video and then on to your dolphin encounter. Each group... More

My partner and I did a Dolphin Encounter at Dolphin Discovery in Tortola on a recent cruise with Princess Cruises. The excursion was a bit pricy, but it was worth every penny. The trainer was funny and comforting. The staff prepared you well for the experience and the groups were kept small to give everyone plenty of time with the... More

To experience Dolphin Discovery properly, I would strongly suggest an overnight stay in Tortola. A lot of the complaints hint at daytrips and cruise ships, which isn't surprising. Avoid the peak cruise ship hours, and you stand a better chance of having some quality time with the dolphins. I went with a friend who was doing the full 'royal' experience,... More

While being up close and personal with dolphins was a once-in-a-lifetime thing, the experience overall was a bit lackluster for the cost. You cannot take your own camera and the photos they try to sell you of your experience are quite costly. I would love to have had a bit more education about dolphins during our visit.

This was not the first time I've swam with dolphins but the first time with this company. Most of the time was spent waiting for our group to begin or waiting or the bus to take us back to the ferry. VERY little time is spent in the water with the dolphins and when you do, it's for the purpose... More
