The trail seems like a good idea, until you discover its not well kept and has very little wildlife and its hot as hell with hardly any airflow because of its location.

I live on Cayman part-time and decided to do the hike with my partner. We booked the hike with Stuart Mailer (National Cayman Trust). The hike itself is rugged so be sure to wear hiking boots or thick sneakers. Bug spray is a must! Bring water, snack bar, and use a restroom before getting to the hike! Expect 3 hours...

This 2 mile rugged hike cuts from the north end to the south end of the island. There are over 700 dense acres of woodlands, swamps, savannah, and rock formations. The trail is narrow and you are hiking over rocks and tree roots so be sure to pay attention to where you are walking. My husband and 15 year old...

We are keen walkers and have enjoyed walking in a variety of terrains.
The Mastic Trail is fascinating when undertaken with a guide.

My wife and I had occasion to hike the Mastic Trail again in early March of 2012. The weather had been dry, so we were able to walk the full length, and back again. However, we learned a couple of valuable lessons that we wanted to pass along to you.
It was a warm day, so we dressed lightly and...

We really enjoyed our hike on the Mastic trail. Stuart was very knowledgeable, answering all of our questions about the history, plants and animals of the island. He adjusted the pace of the hike for our age groups. We got to see beautiful parrots, banana quints (sp?), lots of birds you'd never see here in the States, all kinds of...

Thank you Gilbert (Joe Tourist). What a great chance to see the beauty of Cayman, and experience the Mastic Trail, blow holes, authentic cuisine and tons of laughs!
If you are looking for a formal tour. . .this is not for you! Gilbert appears rough around the edges, but his knowledge of the island, plant life, out of the way...

This was a great trip for adults. We had a trip through the Mastic Trail. Joe pointed out so many natural plants and wildlife. After the Mastic Trail we are dinner locally which was delicious. Then off to the highest point on the idland and we waited for sunset. I have been coming to Cayman since 2003 and this was...
