We had a wonderful time at Asa Wright. This was largely down to the friendly, knowledgeable and helpful good humour of the staff. Although, when abroad, we don't normally use guides, much preferring to use our own agenda and itinerary, we were grateful for the information given to us by the guides and other staff, who went out of their... Fantastic scenic drive to get there, then the experience begins. There is an entrance fee, but you get a guide and you get to choose a walk. Guides are very experienced and they know their stuff, then you are plunged into a nature trail that totally enhances all of our senses and you might even be dared to eat termites... More

I stayed four nights at Asa Wright with a birding tour group. The birds are indeed excellent, especially the Oilbirds in their cave and the view and birds from the verandah. There are a number of well-marked trails in the rain forest, easy for the fit but less so for others. Time spent on the verandah was very enjoyable, both... More

We spent most of the afternoon at Asa Wright, and it lived up to the recommendations of other travelers. We just went in for the day, but I think I would recommend staying the night if that suits your budget, because overnight guests have more access and more options. Reservations are still required for the morning or afternoon guided tour,... More

This nature centre is a little hard to find..no sign posts. If you have a GPS, type in Arima-Blanchisseuse Road. The best is to take the airport road, Churchill-Roosevelt Highway, and drive to a road indicates Arima. Once you are in Eastern Main Road, ask the friendly people of Trinidad the way to the Nature reserve, you carry on a narrow road... More

I checked the reviews on this attraction before deciding to go there. Everyone was so over the moon about it that I thought it would be super fun. Well, I was disappointed and trust me, that's an understatement. I don't know, you might have to be crazy about watching tiny birds from a distance and standing at spots where you're... More

This place is like a gem. I went with a group as a part of our university course and wow this place was amazing. We had a buffet style lunch and watched the hummingbirds most of the time. After we had a guided tour to see some of the native plants and animals (mostly birds). Some of the people in... More

We spent half a day at the Asa Wright Nature Centre on our recent trip to Trinidad and Tobago. It was a beautiful oasis and we enjoyed the guided birding tour. Even though we aren't birders, our guide's enthusiasm was contagious. We had a nice lunch on the verandah watching the hummingbirds flit 3 feet from us and then we... More

this place in the middle of the forest is so refreshing away from traffic jams and noise; and so many birds to be admired right from the verandah; it is worth it to spend the day there, have lunch where you'll meet other fellow birders. Phone in advance to check when there's a visit to the oil bird cave.

Note kids not allowed. Nestled in the hills of Northern Trinidad with beautiful views Natural pool near a spring to have a bath - water is extremely cold as you are high in the mountains. Lots of flora and fauna to be seen. Birds especially in abundance feeding and flying all around you - its a photographer's (and nature lover's)... More
