gradually uphill, but the views are worth it. Once was lucky and followed a cougar up the trail for a bit. never saw it, but enjoyed knowing it was enjoying the same solitude and quiet beauty i was.

Excellent hike with 600m Elevation gain. Georgious views of the lake on the way up and down. Take the hiking path and not the fire road
See our review of Maligne Lake for details. If you in decent shape, and have 4-5 hours, do this hike to the top. You will not believe the views. Carry food, water, bear bells and bear spray. Use the bathrooms at the trail head before heading out
This great hike was a top hike for us in Jasper. Things to keep in mind, wear good shoes (saw someone on it in sandals and they did not make it 1/4 the way up). Hike books recommend taking 2 litres each. We took 1.5 litres each and were short. SO we should have listened. Take the cut-off through the...

We really enjoyed this hike. The upper half of the hike is above tree-line, so the views of the surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning. There were two grizzly bears in the area that day, but we only saw one of them - a huge male who was extremely intent on digging a marmot out of its hole. Glad we saw...

You hike up an old gravel road in the trees most of the way, but near the top, the views kick in. Once above treeline it's a maze of side trails to explore the hills. Once up there you can see exceptional mountain views in 360 degrees. Take the steep, non-road trail back down for a change of scenery.
Chose to walk up the Bald Hills for a 360 degree of Maligne Lake and it's surroundings. Certainly weren't disappointed once we reached the top - however the first 30 min up the trail are fairly boring as you follow and old fire break. It's like walking up a main street. Part way up - you come to a crossroads...

The view on top of bald hills is great. But the long dusty trail going up to the peak is boring and view less. We were there in July and the area is full of bugs and mozzies! Even on top of the hill where there are still some snow left! So bring bug spray and spray lots!!
We did this walk in about 3 and a half hours. It was raining but still worth it. First section is along a dirt track / road and then at the top of the hill you get views out over the hills and lake. We walked this at teh start of July and there was still snow covering teh mountain...

this was a long hard slog on a fire road on a very hot day. But it was worth it for the great views when we finally reached the top, after slipping and sliding through slushy snow, with a temp of +30!
