after staying in Jasper, Lake Louise ,Banff and Radium Hot Spings, we looked out for something totaly different on the way to the south ( near USA). Early start at 08.15 AM. This was a big opportunity :on the way from Radium Hot Springs to Waterton Lakes NP , we stopted at Fort Steel Heritage. You have the choice paying... More

Fort Steele through my eyes is quite a unique place. It's a great place to learn about the history of the RCMP and the pioneers who helped to open up the West. There are lots of historical buildings and the actors told lots of stories that were really informative. My favorite part of Fort Steele had to be the steam... More

We found the Fort Steele Heritage Park just before the turnoff to Cranbrook--what a great unexpected find. We spent several hours there and I was able to take a great number of super photographs. Fort Steele was taking a trip backwards in time into the 1890's. The vibrant restored pioneer boom-town reflected the same streets, lifestyles and tranquility of a... More

This restored heritage Village is a great way to learn how Western Canada was developed and how life was like in the 1800's. The variety of buildings are well maintained and clean. The history of the R.C.M.P. Division that lived at Fort Steele to help deal with the Ranchers and the developing cattle business comes alive when you see where... More

This year we decided to take our granddaughters on a camping trip in our 5th wheel which would be about Canada's History and past. Our 5th stop on the tour was Fort Steele and Fort Steele Campground. We found the campground clean with all the amenities however they did not allow camp fires. The rates were a little high however... More

By buying the Columbia Valley coupon book, my grandson and I were able to enjoy a two for one special. My cost as a senior was under $20, and he got in free, all for their best package that included the antique train ride, the live theater and a guided horse drawn wagon ride around the property. The old train... More

The highlight... More

We visited with our young kids (10 and 8 years) in June. Expected it to be quite run down, and suffering from a lack of visitors. In fact, Fort Steele is in rude health. It manages to strike a great mix of informative and fun. It gives a real sense of what the town was like to live in. It... More

Truly disappointing place, with just a few houses, despite the costumed residents who try hard to make it look real. Very little to see. The food at the restaurant was mediocre, and overpriced.

This was a nice afternoon with family...we got to try a turn of the century ice cream machine, school day and gold panning. A fun, relaxed afternoon.
