This is not a huge museum but it is very nice. The First Nations Exhibit upstairs was what we found most interesting. It is definately worth visiting. The museum store is also very nice with a lot of quality offerings.

Dont get me wrong, this is a Great local museum for the area, very informative on the cultures etc. of the region, and very well displayed and curated,(great exhibits on the indigenous tribes), but from the outside I was expecting more exhibits, the gift shop (very nice, but apparently with commissioned sales people) had more variety.
Great displays, very average coffee shops, acoustics very bad when surrounded by multiple groups of yelling, running school groups.
If you only have a day in Victoria, consider spending at least half of it in the Royal BC Museum -- the First Nations exhibit alone is worth every minute and every penny!

The exhibits were top notch, but the museum was hosting tons of field trips for children running and screaming and teens being loud and rude. Very few adult interventions
This is basically a much scaled down version of a similar museum in Ottawa. The one in Ottawa is lightyears ahead of this one. If you come from a large city (5 million+ or so), you will find this museum to be tiny and uninteresting. My friend and I saw it was ranked as the most interesting thing to do...

This is a great museum and has something of interest for everyone. On the day that we were there, teachers and students were all over the place. When we walked in to the natural science exhibit, there was a life size replica of a mammoth. There were also settings with seals and the seashore that were very realistic. We especially liked...

I know the world is full of museums, but this one is truly special...even the kids enjoyed it!! As always I was the last member of the party to emerge, and that was only because the closing bell had tolled. Loved the prehistoric section and wooly mammoth, was captivated by the displays of the different land types, and got completely...

The organization of artifacts, pictures and recreations were simply done and easy to understand and follow. Spacious and not cluttered.
