My husband wasnt thrilled when I wanted to stop in at the old burying ground. He was, however, pleasantly surprised. There was a guide that spent a lot of time taking us around and telling us about the history and even personal information about some of those laid to rest there. It was very good! You will come away knowing... More

We enjoyed the free tour of the burial ground so much that we made a voluntary donation. The guide provided very interesting information about the headstones and yard layout, so much so that we visited another graveyard later armed with our new knowledge. Definitely worth the stop.

Many of the old headstones-some from the late 1700's were vandalized and now there is an effort to restore. It is very quite on a busy road, Government House is across the street, and being with those who have passed on can be a very calming experience

History grave sites with many of the first settlers of Halifax buried there. A walk through this site will paint a picture of the early life in the city. A great place to visit if you are a visitor.

Tucked between the old churches and modern buildings, this is the oldest cemetery in town, dating back to the founding in 1749. The mouldering tombs create a shivery gothic atmosphere at twilight. Be sure to take one of the popular "ghost walk" tours to get the full effect.

This graveyard is old. There are lots of interesting images on the headstones (those you can still read) but it's just a short walk-through. There are much more interesting places in Halifax. The graveyard is next door to one of the city's 7 universities. The more interesting graveyard is slighlty out of the main area of town where many Titanic... More

This spot is easily accessible on a walking tour of the downtown area and a nice stroll back in time. It's well signed with historical data and a lovely spot, aesthetically, with the trees and paths. The gravestones are very old and interesting to look at, if you're into that sort of thing. It's easy just to pop in for... More

It is very serene and interesting place to go and read some of the tombstones and read the history behind them.

A very nice graveyard in the city. Lots of very interesting tombstones. The number of very young people buried there (young adults as well as infants) is very sad. Good to go there and pay ones respects.
