Even if you are not a dedicated canoe person, this museum is not to be missed. It's really a history of North American exploration. Beautifully laid out and a very manageable museum for all the family. Fascinating exhibits and a nice gift shop. Don't miss it when in Peterborough.

I attended the Canadian Canoe Museum while on a class trip with a school. We took park in a trading program where we had to trade someone of ours to get articles of clothing to wear while we were there. At the end we were supposed to be able to trade those articles of clothing back for the item we... More

Without the canoe our country would not have been explored until much later - it is definitely a part of our heritage! The museum is very interesting, has some great displays and tons of information about the history! They also offer educational workshops for students!

You might think if you've seen one canoe you've seen them all. This place will prove you wrong. There are many different types of canoes, some collapsible, some very beautiful. There are several fun spots for photo-ops (a person can mimic a voyageur or sell you some whiskey) and interesting facts to discover, like a voyageur needed 5000 calories a... More

If you are interested in Canadian History this is a great spot. It uses canoes and the history of the canoe to teach a lot about Native cultures and the trader culture of Canada.

A wonderful experience for adults and children alike. The collection of hand built water craft from ancient times to recent is vast and complete. The exhibits are organized in a way that creates an exciting learning experience. I love to bring visitors to the area here. They all love it, without exception.

The museum holds many valuable and interesting artifacts relating to Canada's ongoing experience with everything about canoes. Found many exhibits fascinating - will definitely go back!

We took Danish friends there a couple of years ago intending to stay for about an hour and ended being there most of the afternoon. Very well laid out with just the right amount of written commentary. Shows the importance of canoe travel though out our great Canadian History.

If you have an interest in the personal watercraft this museum has the finest collection you will ever see. Though not as well served by its facility as the collection merits (an old Evinrude plant outside the city core), the museum certainly merits a visit. It's exhibits depict a true Canadian cultural icon.
