I took a tour of the Citadelle, not for the military aspect; but because of the history of the place. It was an excellent tour and quite fascinating and unique. I especially loved the museum, despite having to dodge school children on tour. Would recommend to anyone who wants to know more about the unique history of the region.

Make sure you get there early and stay for the changing of the guards. An event you don't want to miss.

The entrance was hard to find and you can only gain access if you pay and have an hour long tour. Since we have two kids, we skipped the tour and walked around outside. At noon they shot off a cannon that the kids still talk about. Impressive place.

This site is very good if you are interested in war and military sites, many, MANY cannons and some tanks flank the slopes of the citadel making it a wonderful view, only guided tours to visit the citadel since it is still an active military base for the 22nd royal canadian regiment

We are always looking for a great view, and you cannot beat the view at the Citadelle--Quebec City's highest point.

I was turned off at the prospect of a guided/escorted tour through the Citadel (as it is still a functioning military establishment), but the guide was engaging, interesting, and helped us to see and learn about all the historic and modern highlights of this amazing site within a hour. I hate guided tours. Except this one. Bravo.
