I have loved The Sandstone Trail since I was a child. Never done the whole thing but the bits I have done are well-maintained and well-signposted. The countryside is varied and lovely.

Liked the ridge walking which represents maybe a half of the walk. Not as keen on the flat fields towards Whitchurch.

We took a day to walk from Beeston Castle to Bickerton Hill. We started by visiting the castle and enjoying the view from there. It was such a pretty day! Once we started on the actual walk, I found it very well signed and easy to follow. So if you're beginner walker, this is a great trail to start with!... More

Easy to get to from Chester, and a wonderful variety of landscapes and terrains. Bring a packed lunch and your walking boots and spend a day in the lovely Cheshire countryside. Well sign-posted!

We have walked a few different areas of the Sandsone trail. It is always popular with ramblers and even takes in places like the 'Summertrees Tea Room' which has a great selection of home made cakes and scones, this is situated at the top of Willington. There are some fantastic views both at the Delemere/Frodsham end and right down to... More

Great way to see the Cheshire countryside. Quite hilly in places and not a circular route so you have to come back the same way or hit the road and find your own way back

Beautiful countryside and clean air over as many miles as you wish. Do it in stages is my advise to you and take your time. There are lots of tempting distractions...castles, ice-cream farms, forests, fruit farms to name a few. Take a picnic or stop at one of the lovely cream tea offering cafes.

This trail has beautiful views, well marked trails and is really entertaining the whole way. We went to the Chester Dairy Farm (with amazing ice cream and a petting zoo), Beeston Castle and Peckforton Castle and had a blast. The staff at the different sites are incredibly nice and you feel like you're in the countryside while still being close... More
