free to get in and a walk that will burn a few calories to the top of a small hill with views across the fells and Kendal, well worth a stop - as is kendal - an interesting town

Short but steep walk up the hill from Parr Street to the ruins. Complete walls all around so we could play Hide'n'seek with the children within the castle. Lots of nooks'n'crannies to hide in. We then walked a more leisurely path down the hill to Castle Road and had a walk around Kendal.

A lovely climb to the top of the hill and you can freely wander around the castle ruin. Great opportunity for photos.

the views from the castle were fantastic and well worth the climb up, we did the easy climb up and the hard climb down a really nice walk

We had a nice walk up there with our young children and the views over the town were amazing. The work to improve the ruins have been done nicely, but it is pretty standard as ruins go.

Great place to see Kendal from. Easy access from all sides. Good place to walk with the family and dog. Play area for the kids at the bottom on the East side of the castle and also a shop and all within walking distance of the town centre. The Castle itself is just a ruin but worth the walk. There... Nice little town. Walked up hill, the steps up are bit slippery this time of year. Amazing view from the top, castle remains are not the best but information boards help. It is beautiful up there though. A nice walk down the hill avoiding the steps and back into the quaint town for a walk over the bridge.

A pleasant walk up from the centre of town, the path is well defined and is reasonably maintained. Would be good for dog walking or a moderate walk up a hill. Views from the top were excellent as photography material, the atmosphere tranquil and information signs interesting.
