Walk. Stop. Sit on a bench, observe and listen. Kids laughing, birds singing, dogs barking. Archers, rugby and soccer players. Great garden near the palace. Fountains, ponds. And the whole spectrum of greens. Relax.

An idyllic retreat from the traffic, crowds and noise of London. Resplendent in it's Spring-time finery; a feast for the senses. Great for brisk walks as well as leisurely strolls. A delightful experience for avid gardeners such as myself.
The rain had been coming down for a week on end (well this is England the 'Green and Pleasant Land.) So on this first glimpse of sun, and a perfectly mild day (after the 'usual' unpredicatable weather that is the UK), the park was busy.

A fine and large park. The sunken garden at the Palace was beautiful and we liked the grey squirrels and all the birds. You can also see the Peter Pan statue and the Albert Memorial.
We usually visit London in the winter but this is still a beautiful place to stroll. On a Saturday or Sunday morning you can see how well used the park is by vairous groups doing runs etc. The grounds are stunning, even though very little is in bloom and it is a welcome break from the crowded streets.
I would rate ambience, location much higher than the food, which lifts the overall experience to very good. have been there for lunch and dinner: i opt for the set lunch which is priced great and the views in daytime are fantastic! the walk around the gardens is very special. Dinner is very cosy, glamorous and great for a special...

Lovely to walk around and enjoy, even in winter. Free to enter the gardens, but to do the castle tour you have to pay. Café at the castle nearby was lovely for a morning or afternoon cuppa. Finding it, within Hyde park was a challenge, but well worth persevering in looking.
I go jogging in this park on Sunday mornings. It is truly beautiful when you are there so early on a Sunday morning, it is very peaceful and ideal location for an undisturbed run! Love it.
We had a couple of hours to pass while waiting to book into our hotel and didn't realise that the Palace and Gardens were so close. We didn't go into the Palace but enjoyed wandering around the Park and even used the bikes for hire. Would definitely go back again.
Love this part of town...perfect when the weather cooperates, which it didn't this trip, but that's spring for you. Still, with the gardens on one side, and the streets of Kensington on the other, you have a fabulous area of town for a good wander or three.
