Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2 « less

Damian was our guide and despite our small numbers was absolutely brilliant. Fact can be so much scarier than fiction and without any props so to speak managed to make us think and take on board the terrors of human nature, however he made sure he ended the night with a high note. The tour was fun filled, full of... More

I've done York 'ghost tours' before and have ended up skipping out after about half of it because it was so tacky and rubbish. The other half wanted to do one though so I reluctantly agreed on the condition that we go for a beer in the Golden Fleece beforehand. Now, there are dozens of Ghost Tours in York, of... More

The title says it all. The guide really knew his stuff, not just from a script. It was packed with historical facts not just scary stuff. There are loads of ghost tours to choose from but I would definitely recommend this one.

In all honesty, I wasn't that impressed with York, until that is, I went on one of the terror walks! A mix of historic facts, humour and fantastic sight seeing opportunities. I will certainly be going back for more, perhaps in the winter, when it's darker :)

Great entertainment. Learned a good bit about the history of the lovely City and what it would have been like. The guide (think he said his name was Damien) was very entertaining and kept me interested.

Me and my partner went on this trail and it was brilliant. The guide was awesome, funny and he knew his stuff. He did have us re-enact snippets of the past, but this made it all the more entertaining. I have arrived home with a wealth of knowledge about the history of the beautiful york due to this, aswell as... More

York Terror Trail begins and ends at the Golden Fleece, so you can easily have a tasty AND educational night out. I went in October 2012 when the guys did their Halloween show, which was hugely entertaining. When I came back this year with my partner the show had downsized back to "normal", but was no less entertaining. The guys... More

Something different rather than walking round the streets, would be better to have a person talking you through things.
