We only went to the art part - I have been told the natural history part is excellent as well. The collection of impressionist paintings was impressive and enjoyable. We also spent a good bit of time in the gallery of ceramics, where they have many beautiful examples of plates, tea cups, etc. in many styles. Worth a visit if... More

So much to do and see here and it is well presented too. Probably a good venue for children too for a few hours indoors. A small shop and cafe complete the offering. More

Titian's Diana and Actaeon is well worth seeing. It is on loan from the National Gallery and is a great example of how one picture can be the focal point of a small exhibition. See the video on the Museum website to whet your appetite. Lots of other things to see too! More

Art, natural history, archaeology; this place had a little bit of everything. As poor students it's free-ness was what brought us in, but the quality of the exhibits is what kept us inside. More

Obviously well worth looking around in depth, however the last time we visited was at Easter and the staff had arranged an Easter Egg Hunt. Our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed themselves we were up and down the stairs in and out of many different departments and exhibits. It was very cleverly staged to ensure "children" were introduced to new areas and... More

A lot of young families were going, which was good, although perhaps a little too much for the small ones. It looked like a very good museum although when we went we were looking for a particular artist, whom they didn't have. I would liked to have spent longer in the galleries. More

We decided to visit the (Free of charge) Museum after being told about it the previous day on the City Bus Tour - which was very good - Costing £25 for a family of 4. There was lots to do and see to interest us , although my children 9 and 14 enjoyed it, they became very bored with the... More

Contains a surprisingly fine collection of paintings, notably French impressionist, and sculptures (e.g. by Rodin), thanks to some magnificent bequests, as well as impressive collections more closely related to Wales. Also some fascinating special exhibits (e.g. Scott of the Antarctic). Staff were very helpful. There is a Coffee shop and it is a great place to spend a wet day... More
