First off, Donald made a special trip to the tourist office for us. He wasn't working when we arrived and the lady at the office was insistant that she call him. And he came in just for us. Donald is a very nice man with a wealth of facts about Ayr and Burnes. He was attired in a kilt. We... More

Rabbie was both accommodating and informative. Rabbie introduced us to the poetry and ideas of Burns as well as the countryside where he lived. His stories were enjoyable and he knew of the little hidden pubs to take us for lunch or a little tea. Rabbie gave us options as to how the spend the day and even accommodated our... More

Donald Kay provides a stellar opportunity to know and love the stories of Scotland's past. We were glad we included this tour into our too-full schedule (he was so warmly accommodating of our group). Donald's amazing knowledge of this richly historic area brought it alive for us. We were so surprised to learn how much had taken place here over... More

Hosting a visit from two Americans, we were asked to show them around Ayrshire which, of course, had to include Rabbie Burns. Rang Donald less than 24 hours before the visit. It was no problem - the four of us were booked for the following afternoon's tour of Burns Cottage, etc. Dressed as Rabbie Burns, Donald met us at the... More

We arrived in Ayr late at night mid August on our way down to Manchester. We only had one day in which to see as much of Ayr and the Burns Country as we could before we had to move on. On the way down to dinner we picked up some brochures on Ayr and within these brochures was one... More

Our RT Burns Club had a wonderful charity event at Burns Cottage on 24th July, with the wonderful Donald Kay as our Robert Burns for the evening. Certainly added greatly to our event, a perfect Burns. On the 25th we went with Donald on a tour of Ayr and Burns Country and it was a unique and pleasurable experience. Donald... More

Having been a Robert Burns entheast for many years a tip to Ayrshire was something that has been on my "must do" list for a long time. This weekend I was able to do just that and the highlight of my trip was a day in the company of Donald Kay aka Robert Burns. His local knowledge of both past... More

On the eve of Robert Burns birthday a bunch of us found ourselves checking out the fabulous new renovations and refurbishments at Burns Cottage in the poet's birthplace of Alloway. There was an afternoon of Burns themed entertainment going on and the village main street was closed off to traffic. Our stay was all too brief and I missed some... More
