The day didn't start out very well. My ticket said to go to ticket counter #1 at the visitor center and to be there by 8:40am. Unfortunately, the visitor center doesn't open until 9am. Newgrange (megalithic tomb in County Meath) and Monasterboice (abandoned monastery with tower and two well known high crosses) were both wonderful destinations and the scenery getting there was lovely. We took a full day tour to visit Newgrange and nearby cities. I think the tour company that you select doesn't really matter, as they will just drop you off in Newgrange - and the guides there are AMAZING! If I had to do it again, I would just pick the company that offered visits to the most interesting cities... More
