St Canice's is still worth visiting, probably a 10 minute walk from main street of Kilkenny More

Missed the tour but enjoyed taking time to read the signs, observe details, think of history. If you don't mind steep staircase, don't miss climbing the tower. Nice view of the city, castle, abey and even the limits of the walled city. Very friendly staff too! More

One of the oldest (and best) cathedrals outside of Dublin. It is full of all the usual - wood carvings, statues, stained glass, etc. The use of black marble is also particularly beautiful. There is also a great model of Kilkeanny as it would have looked in the late Middle Ages. More

Went up the tower when I was younger and before health and safety regulations upped the age to 12. Amazing views and a good way to see the city, especially at sunset. More

So much history in this place. There wasn't a lot of "tourist" traffic when we visited and the staff are super friendly. We did climb the tower, which is a bit of a daunting task if you're afraid of heights but the view is spectacular. More

this place is fabulous little treasure, not too busy and climb to the top of the tower felt like a bit of an adventure. I am afraid of heights, ladders - so this was a stretch, but well worth it. Views are beautiful. More

The round tower is a tough climb but well worth it. It involves climbing a series of ladders so not for those with a fear of heights. The cathedral is also worth going into. We spent about 20 minutes in each of the tower and cathedral. More
