Bright, light-filled ancient non-gothic cathedral with a few stunning stained glass windows. Front facade is under restoration but the crypt is well worth a visit.
In every city we went into churches and cathedrals to see the architecture. This cathedral was the brightest and had the warmest feeling of them all, the sunshine gave the place an aura of joy. The pictures reflect the difference in light between the two ends of the cathedral. Compared to the Notre Dame of Dijon, I would recommend you... More
An impressive Gothic Cathedral, but the 1000 year old+ Romanesque Crypt was the highlight of the visit... fantastic preservation of a very old structure. Cathedral is free, fee for visiting the crypt.
Very low key and understated but worth a look. The crypt visit is also worth a look, especially if you haven't been in one before. Nothing extravagant but interesting in its own right. There is a museum in the back through the gate to the left of the front door which has artifacts from other churches and sites from all... More
Superb cathedral built in the burgundy style of gothic and rather massive but gorgious.. The unique athmosphere has benn greatly enhanced by the recent restauration and cleaning work perfomed. The new organ is just wonderfull and don't miss the concert of the bell-drummers...
We overnighted in dijon during a trip to the alps In the morning we paid a quick visit to some of the sites We went to the cathedral first It opened at 8:30 We were the first in there. The cathedral is quite plain inside but beautifully built There is an impressive lectern and huge and spectacular pipe organ in... More
Another historic Cathedral. The architecture is quite original. I witnessed a choir concert in the evening which was nice. The little owl on the outer side of it is absolutely the biggest attraction.
Ok, its a big old church like lots of them in France but I did like the spooky crypt underground especially if you are left to yourself. Its quiet, cold and spooky just right for a ghost meeting.
