The Trianon palaces and the Hamelt came as a wonderful extra. The grounds are huge so be prepared for a long walk and make sure you have comfortable shoes on. Golf buggies can be hired but are costly at 30 Euros for half an hour, bikes and segways were also available for hire.

Virtually everyone who visits Versailles goes to the chateau. Many go on at least a way into the park. It seemed to us that fewer made it to the large and small Trianon palaces and Marie Antoinette's quirky "Hamlet." So, it was quieter, and in some ways more enjoyable. The pinkish Trianons are quite pretty on the outside, and rather... More

Because the crowds are less than in the main building the Grand and Small Trianon has a more magical feeling. It's beautiful and you can imagine living there enjoying the gardens and tranquility.

These grounds don't get the coverage and attention of the Hall of Mirrors in the main apartments. Before you go, read up on Marie Antoinettes history in wikipedia and you will get an insight on her life. Beautiful and serene gardens in the sea of tourists madness. And more ironically, serene and tranquility away from the sea of revolution. The... More

Trianon (mostly famous as occupied by Napoleon), Petit Trianon (mostly famous as occupied by Marie Antoinette) and the Hameau de la Reine, or Queen's Hamlet (mostly famous as one of Marie Antoinette's expensive whims!) are one of the best parts of visiting the Chateau de Versailles. Those curious about Marie Antoinette will enjoy strolling through her small palace, which was... More

Had limited time so only saw the Petit Trianon and Hamlet. Interesting story to go with the Hamlet - Love Shack?

The scale, lesser crowds, and charm of this intimate dwelling made out visit there much more enjoyable than that of the Chateau. No wonder Marie Antoinette liked staying here. The grounds are very walkable and beautiful in a natural way, and the Hamlet is engaging and quaint. The best part of the visit to Versailles.

If you are around Paris, you should not miss The Château de Versailles. It is a very insightful peek into the life of French luxury and taste. The Palace's art and beauty is absolutely mesmerizing and can be believed only when seen. I would recommend it strongly. Beware of waiting times and excess crowd.

Too not too small palaces on the grounds that were lovely and much less sensory overload than the main palace. It's easy to imagine Louie XIV strolling around gardens, and Marie Antoinette being opulent here.

Be sure to visit the Petite and Grand Trianon, they are very interesting. But the best thing to see are the gardens and the Queen's Hamlet. The hamlet is so quaint with the cutest buildings. I went back to see it a second time. Just stroll and take it all in. The Lilacs were in full bloom and the scent... More
