The staff in the TI are so helpful and really cannot do enough to help you. There is a small bus tour that takes an hour from the TI office for about an hour and this is well worth doing for a first visit.

I thought the staff were very helpful and gave us all the information we required. They also spoke English which was a boon!
OK for handing out maps but not much else, it was s truggle to find anyone who spoke English and there were no English translations. Muddled through in limited French but hardly a great international welcome. Location, in Grande Place, is a long way from where visitors enter the city centre ie the train stations.
Start here for information, pick up a map, book bus ( 50 mins) or walking tours ( 2 hours) of the city , buy city pass etc.
There was lots of stall but they were all overpriced tatt really. The setting is far from nice with lots of building work going on around the market. Would not go back.
We where informed that there where over 80 stalls, well I counted 24, near if your not good with numbers. Luckily the shops in Lille are great, or it would have been a wasted day. My advice, go to Lincoln or Birmingham christmas markets, probably something to do with the recession. Meert in Lille great for cakes
All you need to know can be known at this tourist office. Staff are friendly, available and helpful.
We arrived Sunday afternoon out of season looking for somewhere to stay with secure parking and a dog! the team here were excellant and on the strength of that we made sure to use this service every town we went to and was not disappointed ,we could learn from this service in the UK!!!!!
We had what should have been a perfect trip to Lille - beautiful weather and a classically beautiful city with an interesting old quarter. The restaurants were typically overpriced, but that's France.
It was basically ruined by the continual attention of beggars on every street corner, next to every ATM and even approoaching us whilst eating in a restaurant. We...
