The cable car is a fun way to get a great view of the whole town. You dont need much time up there but the view is worth it and without the physical strain.
1st stop is the schloss (castle), which is undergoing some renovations now. We got off and were one of the fist for the 2nd leg up, so we sat in the lowest (first) car. Great view. ... a great example of a funicular railway the bottom section has been modernised in sleek metalised carriages and the top half is the original old wooden coaches - very well restored!
Well worth the 6 euros return trip to the castle which also enabled you to visit the next stop higher up and included entrance to the castle.
...take the Funicular rail up to the castle. You can go further for extra costs. Combined tickets are offered for castle entry and there are some amazing views when you get to the top!
A steep funicular tram that gets to the castle in five minutes instead of walking that takes ten minutes. We walked down the stairs instead of taking the tram down. That takes less than five minutes and you walk buy some incredible villas on the hillside below the castle walls.
