This really is one not to be missed. Allow four hours to do thoroughly, two hours for a quick overview. Personally I do not recommend buying a joint ticket for the zoo + aquarium because I simply do not think it is possible to do both attractions thoroughly on the same day The unique features here: animals are living outdoors... One of the nicest zoos I've been to, and I've been to a few. The place rediates the rare illusion that even the animals enjoy it there, which must be the utmost compliment a zoo can get. Prices for food and memorabilia are high for German but not for Scandinavian standards. Staff is friendly altogether. Look out for guest feeding... More

We're from the US and have visited zoos in major cities (living in Chicago), but of all the zoos, we like this one the best. They just have a very interesting presentation which gets you close to the animals, and some of the animals (small deer and peacocks) were actually walking around. It's not cheap, though. For a "family" pass... More

As good as any zoo I've been to previously, the Hamburg Zoo has a vast array of species to keep you occupied for a few hours. The way the zoo is laid out, signs keep you directed around the various exhibits to ensure you have a chance to see everything. The highlights for us were feeding the elephants--we've done it... love how they keep the animals. decent "cages" and so. A bit expensive but it is expensive to fund those animals i reckon. Very nice walk on a good day.

A nice setting for the animals who all look very well looked after. Plenty of animals from the small to the king of the jungle types. Staff helpful and friendly. Nice picnic areas as well as restaurants to eat in.

I allways love to return to this zoo, since its a zoo (though quite expensive) trying to lay everything in a nice park where the animals more less roam free. They have done this since 1907! The new aquarium is great fun, especially when a ringtailed lemur lands on your shoulder and the renovated artic panorama among europes best

This zoo is not the biggest in the world but does have all the usual animals including big cats, bears and primates. It is easy to get around and the map is easy to follow. Near the entrance, there is a table set up where you can buy (for 2Euros) a bag of fruit and veg to feed the llamas,... More

A huge zoo in Hamburg. Make sure to stop by the elephants - it's possible to feed them and get very close. Also the Tropical Aquarium is a must-see when visiting the park. Make sure to come when the zoo opens and the park is less crowded. Although the zoo is actually never too crowded as the park is huge... More
