Ideal place to stroll to. Lovely grounds, including penguins and seals, great views of the bay. The Palace itself also worth a visit inside. Guide spoke only Spanish but still worth a look around.

This was a short drive from our hotel and there is plenty of parking when.you get there. The Palacio is set in a huge park which has a Polo pitch ,Maritime Museum ,Mini Zoo and loads of walks and garden including some interesting sculptures. We meandered through the main route up to the Palacio which was closed even though it...

I have not visited the inside. However the outside of the building is amazing. The grounds of the palace and the palace itself is the chosen scenary of a popular Spanish TV Series called "Gran Hotel". The palace is located in the "Península de la Magdalena" which also hosts a little zoo and has amazing views over the city.
It is located in a peninsula with big garderns and trees, but the palace is not very impressive. We went inside on a guided tour that lasted around an hour, and nothing really seems magnificent, it is so new... and used as a summer university so for me, it loses it value as a palace...
The palace is in a wonderful location, and from the outside looks really beautiful. However I found the inside boring for a palace. I thought it was an amazing home or mansion but as a palace it did not have anything to make it special. You can only see inside with a guided tour (in Spanish) which cost us 3...

This castle is very close to Santander and can be reached on foot from most hotels. Nice building, museum and great opportunity to walk along the cliffs.
It's a very nice palace. And it's even nicer in the summertime. Besides, during the summer months it usually hosts many courses and different kinds of sessions, so it's full of students. Very nice!
If you visit at the right time you will pass through a time warp into the Victorian/Edwardian era- well dressed people strolling about the grounds as a brass band plays traditional music. Regardless, from here there are great views of the ocean and harbor. The grounds are a good place to visit for families with children- the children can run...

we had just a couple hours before our plane took off (went on a surf trip to somo beach) and had always eyed the palace from across the bay at somo beach. there is plenty of parking, but if you have to walk a bit, you will not mind. the grounds reminded me of a mini-Stanley Park (Vancouver) in the...
