This was probably my favorite art museum in Madrid. I visited during the free admission hours, so I expected a large crowd, which wasn't the case. Definitely take the afternoon to see the house, art, and gardens.

After the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza this little gem of a museum, tucked into Sorolla's former home in Madrid was a real gem. Thee garden alone was a delightful little place, with fountains, flowers and trees. And the house and studio is filled with paintings, primarily portraits of the artist's family but also some of his luminous beach scenes.

Small serene garden and house in the middle of the city. Well worth a visit. Even better if you like Sorollas' artwork. Although there is no cafe the garden has a covered area with some vending machines. I could have sat there for hours.
Great art -- Sorolla's work of and for his family. (The rest of this is just to fill the 50 character requirement for reviews.)
An artist friend told me about this museum. Paintings were lovely post-Impressionist. Also very much enjoyed the museum because it was in Sorolla's lovely home surrounded by gardens. Abour a 40-minute walk north of Plaza Mayor.
A small museum but an incredible feeling when you are inside this place and contemplate the lively and luminous paintings
It's a treat to find a museum dedicated to one artist, all the more so since the museum is the house Sorolla designed and lived in.
We loved this small home of a museum, although there were not that many works on display. We loved his artistic style, and were most surprised to have never even heard of him before today. This small museum is one of my favorite spots in Madrid. The museum was the home of Valencian painter Joaquín Sorolla's. The gardens, patios and interiors alone are worth seeing, but the museum is also filled with many of Sorolla's finest works.
A beautiful home perfectly preserved as a museum. The aritist's studio is intact and evey wall of every room has paintings that he created, including touching images of his family. Easy to get to by metro with lots of dining options near by. The gardens are a wonderful place to sit and meditate on the lovely fountain, pool and plants.
