Not to be confused with the National Museum and the "secret room". Nicely displayed art and sculpture in a beautiful palace atop a nice hill in a park in Naples. Nothing like downtown. You can ride the bus there but can be tricky getting to the entrance and more tricky finding the buss stop to go back, but we did....... More

The Museo Nazionale is best known for its “secret” room, where the collection of erotic art from Pompeii is displayed, but the rest of the place is also worth a visit, despite the five-minute ordeal of buying each ticket. Boasts an impressive number of massive statues including some of Ancient Greek heroes such as Achilles and Hercules. It also has a lot of artifacts dug up from Pompeii.

Located in a former royal palace in a park-like setting that enjoys panoramic views over Naples and the bay, the Capodimonte museum is not to be missed on any visit to the region. It is truly a world class museum. Located just outside the historic centre it is walkable: but beware it is a stiff climb for the last stretch.... More

Capodimonte has an excellent collection of Italian painters of the 16th century: Parmigianino, Titian, Raphael.

The museum is a must-see for anyone interested in Pompeii. The Farnese collection was beautiful. Somewhat hard to navigate - maybe some enterprising museum studies students could do an internship here and come up with visits geared to specific types of visitors - art, sculpture, history, etc.

A huge gallery. Prepare for the many many steps up to the gallery (or you could take your life in your hands and walk around them but the roads are incredibly busy and clearly the Napoli people do not wlak much as the pavements are fairly non existent)
