We popped in here on the way to Piazza Navona for some welcome respite from the crowds. It was a Sunday and the organist was playing. The Caravaggios in the bottom left were interesting-different from the other frescoes. The vibrancy and his use of light are why they are celebrated, I suppose. Well worth seeing.

While not a huge church (in Rome terms, at least), this is a nice church with beautiful paintings by Caravaggio.
As a lot of people tend to skip this church (for better looking ones, I assume), it is not crowded despite its central location.

An Italian friend told me about this church years ago and I stop by every time I am in Rome! It is on the way from the Pantheon to Trevi Fountain (or vice versa), so not out of the way at all!! It has never been crowded the times I have visited. A must if you like Caravaggio!!!

Three famous and magnificent paintings regarding St. Matthew are located here, between the Piazza di Rotondo (Pantheon) and the Piazza Navona. I have been to this church many times to see these magnificent paintings. It is always worth another view.
