The village "Orta di Giulio" is a beautiful drive from Baveno and located right along Lake Orta. There is large underground car park right in front of the village. The tiny little streets sometimes more alleys rather than streets give it a feeling of stepping back in time. We spent an entire afternoon walking around visiting the very Baroque church... More

Beautiful location , plenty of restaurants , quite hilly . We didn't bother to take a boat to the island since Orta town was charming enough.

A small picturesque location. This is small and compact location, offering beautiful scenery, great walks beside the beautiful lake, only an hour drive north of Milan. The community is small, but vibrant, with great restaurants and bars

Lake Orta is the smallest of the major lakes in the Italian Lakes district. It's also among the prettiest, with a gorgeous island in the middle that you can explore. The town is fascinating, and above it is a UNESCO world heritage site, the Monte Sacra di San Rocco. This is a very special place.

What a gem! We went over Easter, and were suprised by the relative lack of tourists. Loved it here and definitely coming back.

The little town and lake are just about as close to living in a postcard as you will ever get. It is breathtakingly beautiful. The tiny streets are from medieval times and they are just like a scene from Romeo and Juliette. There is a convent on the island in the middle of the lake and some houses also. I... More

It is more romantic than the Maggiore Lake, because it has more pleces for take a little walk hand on hand and it offers more points of view.

Orta San Giulio is west of Lake Maggiore in Northern Italy not far from Milan. The lake is smaller and much less crowded but very beautiful and more romantic than the other northern Italian lakes. The little town is not very good for someone who is handicapped. You cannot reach the town or most of the hotels in a vehicle.... More
