Very large square with lots of statues and dome nice bridges, fountain in the middle. Nice views of church. Statues decaying rapidly, not many restaurants about. Teenage kids were bored..

well it looked as if it would be nice, but a fourth of the statues around the oval park was under scaffolding and they were setting up for a festival...the water or canal around the park was dirty and had trash floating within...
I found really pleasant walking in this square with all its statues, fountain and bridges. Its complete beauty can be admired only by a point standing at least 50 metres from the ground but unfortunately I have not found any so only ground-level photos were taken. It is instead a good spot to take pictures of the cathedral of Santa...

Padua is your typical old Italian city. Prato della Valle is it's center square (it's oval and very big, but not much of an attraction by itself), which I found nice but not too interesting to hang around. Prato della Valle was once a Roman theater and it is now the traditional site of fairs and amusements. Shame that I did not have enough time to look at all the 78 statues surrounding the square. The fountain is really beautiful.
We found the Prato della Valle while looking for a parking lot.....parking is just adjacent. It is a flat walk to the center through streets lined with stores. The Prato itself is worth a visit if you have all kinds of time....but there is so many other things to see in this lovely town.

We walked a long distance from the train station in Padua to see this square but by the time we got there is was completely covered in snow and we couldn't see much. I would like to go again some time and see the 78 statues of famous men! Even in the snow I could see it was a beautiful...

We had a lovely time here! All restaurants surrounding the piazza set up their tables here in the evening. Both locals and tourists come here for dinner. We would definitely come back.
Lovely open area to stroll aroung and look at the amazing statues. Very large market here with lots of stall for browsing.
