Stunning from the outside at salute water stop but inside whilst decorative was disappointing with very little to see due to restoration and very little tourist information.
An incredible building, so peaceful, cool and beautiful. We spent an hour wandering around looking at the magnificent architecture. Even the walk to and from it was glorious. The statue with the armed guard is worth a look, but what a boring job!
When you visit this church, make sure that you don't miss visiting the sacristy. The entrance is non-descript and sort of hidden off to the side, you have to wind through a narrow hallway to get to the entrance point, and you have to pay a few euro to get inside, but it is well worth it. after arriving early evening from marco polo airport via water taxi we checked into the danielli hotel and asked the porter what did he recommened for that evening and he told us the festival/pilgrimage of santa maria della salute was on and recommended we take the vapporeta over to santa maria it was a total impromptu visit but so pleased... This would be great - unfortunately half of it is under covers and scaffolding. The outside seems like a great place to hang out but there is not much else to do at this location. Great views though.
