We went over to the island on vaporetto and walked around the beautiful church with beautiful art to include a painting by Tintoretto. The best part of our time was the hour long Gregorian mass. It was awesome to hear and watch. The view from here of Venice is wonderful too.

When in Venice make time to go to this charming island, if only to view this beautiful church. Attached is a bell tower that for a nominal charge an elevator takes you to the top for a breathtaking view of Venice. Walking the island far from the crowd is a peaceful break from the masses in St. Mark's Square and... More

Was here to catch mark quinn's exhibit at the venice bienale. The island's small but charming with great views across to st marks and giudecca from the tower.

Must go and visit the clock tower and see the amazing views of Venice and St. Mark's Square. We are so glad that we went over to San Giorgio.

The church itself is lovely, although part of it was closed off during our visit. The floors are well worth looking at. Head through the church to the left hand corner where you will find the entrance to the Campanile (bell tower). A lift (only takes 6 people at a time) whisks you to the top where you have the... A great getaway from the heaving crowds of San Marco. The island is a short hop on the river bus from San Marco and is a nice getaway from all the hussle and bussle of the main attractions. We ended up here after seeing the queues to the doges palace. Nice to get a bit of peace and quiet over... More

You get a wonderful view of Venice across the way. There was an art exhibit about glass when we were there and it was well done. The church is the main attraction it is well worth the trip - also gets you away from the crowds.

It take just a few minutes to go up 8-10 stories in the air and get what is maybe the best view of Venice. While it can be very very windy (if it is cold it is uncomfortable) the view makes up for the discomfort. On a clear day the views are fantastic.

It's not very interesting other than the bell tower, but it makes a great escape from Piazza San Marco's noisy crowds. If you have an unlimited pass and have some time, there's really no reason not to make a quick jaunt over by No. 2 boat for sweeping views of Venice.

After fighting the crowds in and around St. Marks square, reward yourself with a short vaporetto ride across the bay to this beautiful old church. The architecture on the outside is impressive, as is the artwork inside. The small island that it sits on is a wonderful, quite, and almost serene respite from the crush at St. Marks, of which...
