Catania has so many significant churches, it is difficult to pick a favorite, but this church along Via Crociferi was ours.
The church is accessed via a short staircase with a terrace that provides a view of the piazza below. The façade is clean and simple, flanked by two bell towers of the same size.
The interior is large, bright, and airy, with beautiful ceilings and religious art. The main work is at the top of the right aisle, The Statue of the Immaculate attributed to Bagnasco from Palermo (18th century).
The main altar is built in polychrome marble. The door, created by Paolo Guarna in 1574, is made of a lapis lazuli mosaic with a chiseled gold base.
It was such a contrast to so many dark churches.

This is one of many in via crociferi. Well worth visiting if in this street. Opposite a large statue so easy to locate. Some very strange monuments inside

It’s almost hard to give every building the same recognision when there are so many beautiful buildings in one city.
Again the Chiesa di San Fransesco e L’immacolata is one of many beautifull churches.

Like all of the Catholic Churches in Scily they never fail to impress you with their sheer scale. This wonderful church is impressive, look upwards from the altar at the wonderful frescoes. A peaceful place to sit, rest and contemplate life...or maybe what you're going to do the rest of the day.

This church is among many in Catania. The style is in the barque fashion. Easy to get to by walking down the main road.
