A well-located nice bar with good drinks. Tasty fingerfood like bruschetta and crisps was served for free. The staff is friendly but could have been more attentive. The price-performance-ratio is great.

This place is a bit more off the beaten track and therefore not so much of a tourist trap
Friendly service

Twice I went to this casual place in the pedestrian street Penninello (off the big Via Etnea) for a pre-dinner drink. There are several restaurants and bars in this street and just opposite the 'Cuore' is the Trattoria da Nuccio.

It is a small place with not much seating, but I enjoyed doing some people watching from the little elevated terrace with shabby-chic decor, with all different types of chairs and tables and with plastic flowers in empty Gin- or Whisky bottles.

On the menu card are cocktails on offer, based on Smirnoff Vodka, Pampero Rum and Gordon's Gin. The first time I had a 'Moscow Mule', served in a copper mug (lined inside with stainless steel), probably provided by the Smirnoff Company. Only after quite some time, after I had almost finished, some chips were brought with it.

The next time I tried an again Vodka-based 'Caipiroska' (with lime and cane sugar), which was just right for me, not so sweet as is sometimes the case in Brazil. This time the quite friendly waiter brought chips mixed with popcorns almost at the same time.

Great spot in the middle of Catania. We stopped for wine, coffee and a cocktail. Would highly recommend the Negroni :)

I don't often give negative reviews but this place was so damn disappointing on so many levels. Probably because I was hankering for a decent craft beer and Mosaik beer house wasn't open as yet when we turned up. Bar Cuore was my second choice after reading the great reviews it has on TA (I must have misread other reviews on beer selection)

The photos on TA also made the place look really eclectic and funky but when we got there the deck out front was very ordinary and drab. The cool couches and poofs have been replaced with normal chairs and tables like you'd find at the local bingo hall.

So we turned up and they have 3 different beers, all in bottles, one of which is Tennetts Super which is literally what the homeless drink on the streets in the UK.

We had a bottle of the only local lager they served. It was the usual bland taste that most lagers entail. It certainly is a younger crowd which is fine with us and the music matched the general age group.

We decided to just have the one and head off to find a better drop of amber and I was pretty surprised to find it was €4 a bottle. It doesn't break the bank I know but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the tourist price being charged by the young barman (who spent most of the evening hanging with his mates on the deck). Do the local students really pay that much for a local beer?
