A truly wonderful Piazza, encircled by the Doumo and the Baptistery. Try to arrive early to avoid the massive crowds. A must see in florence.
you will spend good time admiring, beautiful, magnificient Duomo from this Plaza. Of course there are nice shops, cafes, restaurants nearby, though be careful not to choose one too touristy. We spent some time walking around here and also some time waiting to get into the Duomo. It is quit cool even on a hot day as most of the Plaza in the shade because of the size of the Duomo and the surrounding buildings. We bought a painting from one of the artists set up in the square, and... More
The Piazza is pretty enough but of course dominated by the mighty Duomo and just as impressive Campanile di Giotto. It's not really that conducive to a relaxing coffee or bite to eat.
Stunning architecture and one of the most beautiful cathedrals I've ever seen. I didn't have a chance to climb, but it was worth just for the visit and the view from the street.
Enjoy the piazza BUT also take in the Duomo. Main floor is free, you have to buy a ticket for dome climb and catacombs and bell tower (Camponile). The piazza is great.
Just walking around this Piazza is an experience. The bars, the shops, and the magnificent Duomo itself. Find a bar with outside seating, order a coffee, and people watch. Don't forget the amazing doors at the Baptuistry
The view here was unlike anything I've seen in the States. Only thing is, the stair way up to the top is very tight and long and the line of people stop to allow the group on top time to take in the view so if you suffer from claustrophobia, you may want to reconsider the climb.
