Located on a lively square with a fountain and a view of Assisi (including Chiesa Santa Maria Maggiore) and the plain below. Anyone interested in San Francesco and Santa Chiara will want to see this lovely church for here is the Cross from San Damiano that is said to have spoken to St Francis and started him on his way.... For Catholics, the opportunity to pause in prayer before the cross of San Damiano and to pass by the tomb of St Care is an unparalleled opportunity. Gracie, Poor Clares, for making this tranquil spot available to us.

A little smaller than Basilica di San Fransesco.Still beautiful and even with so many people had a peace about it. Would like to have visited at a quieter time and stayed for longer.

A must see in Assisi! As beautiful as St Francesco's. Don't miss the relics exposed on the underground level (dresses used by St Chiara and St Francesco)

My wife and I visited Santa Chiara (St. Clare’s Church) with a tour group. We had been to Assisi several times before but had never been to Santa Chiara. The simple architecture of Santa Chiara somehow adds to its wonder. It is located almost at the top of Assisi, so be sure you’re wearing comfortable shoes. We very much enjoyed... More

Tomb of Santa Chiara (St Clare) moving and impressive, including the embalmed body of the saint herself (although some may find the idea a little gruesome). Lots of atrefacts and clothes belonging to the saint

The Basilica of Santa Chiara is well worth a visit. The church itself on the Corso Mazzini was built over an earlier structure in the Italian Gothic style. Its buttresses extend out into the piazza to the side of the church. Inside, an aura of hushed silence, with the nuns periodically producing loud SHhhhh sounds to keep the silence. In... More

You can look at Chiara´s burial and a small museum of Chiara´s belongings. She lived in a very modest way.
