Small boutique shops selling everything and anything cool. There are 9 streets of these small streets.definitely worth a stroll.

Our hotel, the Ambasade was on Herengracht. One might expect a street with access to restaurants and attractions might feel busy and hectic. Not so. Although we were within minutes of everything, it was so quiet and picturesque.

Take the "Hop on hop off" canal bus and see all the major canals. The view is different from the water.

Herengracht is the first canal past the Singel canal, and like the Singel its full of beautiful townhouses, bridges, and typical quaint Dutch architecture. What a way to admire Amsterdam architecture! We first took the canal boat cruise to see the houseboats from the canal and then we walked to admire the surroundings at our own pace. Not to miss while in Amsterdam.

Stayed here for three nights before travelling to Tilburg for a wedding. Can't remember the name of the hotel,but it was located on the Herengracht canal. We passed through Herengracht on a night canal cruise and it was wonderful seeing the grand old houses along this canal.

This canal is worth wandering along, preferably with a good guide book. We stayed around the corner and regularly walk along it to find, cafes, eateries and some funky galleries.

A nice part of the "canals" area... :-) Close enough to the central station and to the very center of the city, plenty of nice restaurant around !
