And sharing this passion is our mission.Present day Evora is in the center of an ancestral landscape that has a significance for all Humanity. Here you can find the remains of some of the oldest monuments of mankind in Western Europe. The early farmers and shepherds that created them, some 7500 years ago, didn't just create beautiful and impressive monuments - they have envisioned an entirely new way of relating with their world and have set the foundations for our current way of life. The megaliths, embodying the new ideology of this period in it's fullest - the domestication and transformation of the natural environment - remain today as distant messages, hidden in the fullness of time.Join one of our tours and discover more about your own history. « less

Combined with the guide's extensive knowledge about culture, politics, and regional facts made this one of the most informative tours during our travels. We learned more about the country in 3 hours than we had done in 10 days. The driver was also to be commended for careful and thoughtful navigation. This was one of many things that made Evora... Excellent, knowledgeable tour guide with great passion and enthusiasm for explaining the monument and its historical significance. This tour was one of the highlights of our 12 day visit to Portugal!

If you do one thing in Evora make it this one! We don't usually take tours, preferring to wander and look by ourselves but this isn't your usual tour. Mario's passion and enthusiasm for distant and recent history and current events are infectious - you'd think it was the first day he'd taken a group (note that it's a very... More

Our guide and his wife were knowledgeable about the sites and very informative about what is going o n in Portugal now. Mario is a fine representative of a hopeful generation in Portugal.

In the setting of a fine Neolithic monument, you see details you otherwise would miss and better understand how profound the Neolithic transformation was. Afterwards you see everything differently. Mario, the archaeologist and guide, is articulate, passionate, and an expert on the Evora megaliths and the Neolithic transformation. Wow!

What a fantastic experience! Mario is so knowledgable about these sites, and concerned for and invested in them as well. He'll take you to several sites and explain more than just their history; the theories, the debates, anything and everything you want to know. Extremely knowledgable and very friendly; very professional while also giving us a flavor for the local.... More

I was told that the guide would be a young archaeologist. And thank God for that. Mario was definitely not an old man on a walking stick trying to tell you about something from perhaps his era. But despite his age, Mario was able to give a lot of insight into the sites. So it was a brilliant and enjoyable... More

I had no idea this place existed until the Evora tourist office told us about it. I have seen Stonehenge and Carnac, but is place is so impressive because you can approach the stones and because it is is such a desolate place. It is just a short drive from Evora (a beautiful city in itself) and well wroth the... More

Having a great guide to show you the sites and tell the the story behind the rocks made for a wonderful day out. Mario clearly knows his stuff! Book this tour as soon as you know your dates as we got the last 2 seats in his van.

Mario and his girlfriend were warm and charming in addition to speaking excellent English and being knowledgeable about the megaliths. We recommend the tour wholeheartedly. Also, visit Mario's restaurant! Excellent small plates and sangria. Ask him about it.
