We were recommended to see the Gardens but found them to be a big disappointment, large areas are not open to the public, we could see why and the plantings in the public areas are nothing special.

These gardens are mostly trees and shrubs, the flowers were not very interesting but it was good to sit in the shade for a while. If you are an avid gardener then it's disappointing, not a patch on Kew!

The garden is at the other end of the city. Outside is an aqueduct, quite enormous. Inside is a quiet and serene garden full of green and beautiful flowers. At time, some trees haven't got their leaves, adding a dash of sadness but romantic. It's a popular place for young couples. http://hkindependent-traveller-croatia.blogspot.hk/2013/01/coimbra-university-cathedrals-and.html

The whole garden it's beautiful and very quiet and peaceful. You will get lost through all the plants but it's a place where you can just relax and it's great if you are a nature lover. It's just bad that some areas are closed to the public (but mostly due security reasons) because it's just beautiful and once there what... More

A great museum of nature (loved the tree with the huge roots) alongside with the "Garden of tears" drama background story!

Such a beautiful garden, with beautiful spots where you can relax, enjoy the silence and feel the nature while the sun kiss your face. :)

A beautiful oasis in the middle of the city. It looks good at all times of te year. Much favoured by the students from the University who like to come and sit with their friends as well as the more mature residents of the area.

Right by the university, a nice side trip (free) as you wait for a night Fado performance. A lot of romantic spots, and the main attraction is the part of the garden where they have zip lines and a lot of equipment for some sort of military training.

A beautiful Botanic Garden in the center of city. Near the University. It's a place to wander, to read, to rest and try a adventure on top's trees.
