Awesome backdrop for pictures from either Porto or Nova de Gaia. Walking across the top is a treat - you don't realize how high up you are until you look down. Also possible to walk across the bottom and avoid the heights.

One of a number of impressive bridges across the Douro. A road bridge at ground level, with a massive arch supporting a higher level walkway and metro line. Great views at both levels.
You cannot be in Porto and not see it I guess, and also not cross it:) On the other side of the river you will find fantastic cellars of Villa Nova De Gaia. And the view from the Ponte D. Luis I - marvelous!
You can see the whole Porto from the brigde. However, the lower crossing was very narrow and traffic went by quite close to us. Still, a titanic construction that you can see in 10 minutes!

The bridge itself is rather rough as it was built by one of Eiffel's students. However from the bridge we can admire beautiful view for the banks of river Douro and the buidings of winerys - where different kinds of Porto wine are produced.
