Dynamic and impressive restoration project underway. I was disappointed that we couldn't rent a audio guide with headphones - that's how you really learn as you explore. More

#1 attraction in Athens, very sad to hear about the history over the years (Turkish, Christians taking over) but still a stunning place that you should visit when in Athens. Go early if possible! More

We are not tour guide people. We did the Acropolis on our own and would not change that. In hindsight though, I would recommend you go to the museum first. Visit the museum, maybe hire a personal guide at the museum, watch their video presentation on the top floor, then go to the Acropolis. That way what you just learned... More

This is a must if you are able. It is the best known monument of Greece and a must see. The Parthenon continues to be restored and is an engineering architectural marvel More

I went when there was scaffolding, cranes and drills all around so any magic moments were loss =( It's super crowded and very hot at the top so recommend going as early as it opens. Also, be prepared to hike! More

If you travel all the way to Greece, of course you'll stop here. The views of Athens are breathtaking and its always amazing to see in real life what you have only read of in History books or seen on TV. Just be careful when walking, the exposed marble can be very slippery. More

There is not too much to say, for me Athens is no more than a city, but Acropolis and all the historical and archeological sites are remarkable and worth the travel More

Enjoyed the climb up 250 feet to the top of the Acropolis today. If you're planning a visit, make sure to put vanity aside and wear good walking shoes. This is not the Champs Elysees... it's a very uneven surface, mostly rocks and slippery marble. And it's not a climb for the out-of-shape, the stairs are steep, and the climb... More
