Lots of interesting exhibitions--make sure you see the glasswork and interior design pieces. Useful as a overview of Swedish history, too.

for art lovers, this is the number one attraction in Stockholm and is one of the world's top museums, comprising an international collection of old masters paintings including Scandinavian art by masters such as Carl Larsson. There are also special exhibitions during the year. The museum is located on one of the city's many islands, now joined to the mainland.... More

Lots of great art, Rembrandt, Goya, French baroque painters etc. Also statues, icons, furniture, porcelain, design. Permanent and exhibitions. Unfortunately it will close for four years in just a month time, so hurry! I guess they will find some sort of temporary site but I'm not sure.

A beautiful old building which houses a decent year round collection and has regular outstanding exhibitions. A really good experience for culture lovers. Has a good coffee shop/restaurant so a nice place to spend an afternoon.

Really enjoyed the slow art exhibit! Glad we were able to visit before it closes for renovations. Restaurant/cafe was tasty.

This museum had been on my bucket list for at least 30 years. The Carl Larsson murals are well-known and revered. They weren't what I expected but they were lovely to see. There is other art most worthy of a quick view but the museum is rather outdated and dreary. Art collection that was on view was not impressive except... More

On our recent trip to Stockholm, we visited about 15 museums (get the Stockholm Card). This was one of the very best and I would recommend it as a must do location for any Stockholm visitor. The other place you MUST go is the Vasa Museum.

It looks the part but just wasn't that interesting. It's an art gallery so has art, which will interest the serious art buff but if you just like looking at art then I wouldn't bother.

Part of the "next round" of sights to probe a bit deeper after the obvious tourist circuit. Interesting art that shows the ways that Sweden has long been European and long not exactly European.

The collection is not a lot, but is interesting enough. You can take a very close look (compared to thick glasses and footlines in some other museums) to most works. One thing that is quite disappointing is that I intended to see some Hammershoi paintings which were taken away for preparation of some upcoming exhibitions. There is a canteen inside... More
