One of the better small museums in Sweden. Originally built to facilitate human dissections, hence all the windows in the cupola on top to let in as much of the high-latitude Swedish sunshine into the operating theater as possible. Despite its former function, a visit to the top is not macabre, but enlightening. More

Interesting museum with a fantastic collection, well worth a visit. Best with a guided tour (only on week-ends). Highlights are the art cabinet and the anatomical theatre, both fascinating and unique historical pieces that I will never forget. Two permanent exhibits remain in my mind, one week after. On the top floor is an exhibition from Viking gravesites - for awhile they buried their dead (the important ones anyhow) in a large boat and filled the boat with food, animals, tools, trinkets etc. The exhibit reconstructs a large burial mound with a number of graves and the objects... The museum Gustavianum, nearby Uppsala cathedral (Uppsala domkyrka), is showing Uppsala in several aspects: historical, educational and scientifical etcetera.
