Interesting layouts, nice structure even when it's too early for anything to bee green yet. I like that the "service" area, including their greenhouse, is right in the middle of the park, instead of off to the side and hidden behind a fence.

We had heard through friends that this was a garden not to be missed. We were skeptical. Very skeptical. I mean, arctic does not normally engender thoughts of profuse blooms. I mean, it's not Keukenhof, or Kew, or any number of other internationally knows gardens. However, it was surprisingly lovely. Granted, we were there during the best possible time (end...

This is opened all day but in winter they don't clear the snow so you can't get in anyway. There's nothing to see really, leafless trees and a steep climb is all that awaits you.
They said the garden is open 365 days a year but I was there in November and they don't plow the paths. I couldn't walk through the garden. I'm sure it's very nice in the summer.
If you love gardens, this one is a must when you visit Akureyri. Filled with color and gorgeous plantings, it is an unexpected delight only 60 miles south of the Arctic circle. There is a really lovely cafe on the grounds as well.

Wonderful selection and truly surprisingly good considering how close to the Arctic Circle. The colors of the blooms were really intense and my Mom the gardener said they are brighter where it is cooler. Amazed there was no entrance fee. I would highly recommend stopping here and the church too. We spent about an hour and could have spent a...
