Salzburg's Old Town is a small, very walkable (almost entirely pedestrian) area, filled with quaint shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as historic buildings. It is a great place to walk around, to eat, and of course to visit historic buldings, not to mention the walk or funicular ride up to the castle overlooking the city, which offers spectacular 360... It is a must to see the old town, its beautiful buildings, its churches, its museums, Mozart's birth place. Good restaurants. Lots of tourists, though! Of course. More

If you're only going to have a few hours in Salzburg, this is the one place to visit. Lots of quaint (but expensive) shops lining small street with little plazas at every turn. There are lots of beautiful sights within the old town so take a few hours to slowly stroll through and take it all in. More

There is a lot to see, you can spend a few days just walking around at sitting at one of the numerous café terasses and watch people go by. More

Tons of pricey shops, amazing plazas leading to more amazing plazas, impressive churches, and plenty of places to pop into to get out of the rain and have a bracing tot of shnapps. More

The old town isn't big, but it is packed with charms in every corner. Take a stroll down the alleys, window shop for the famous Mozart balls, enjoy the silence in St Peters Archabbey, stop for a moment to listen to the musicians playing on the street, take a ride up to Hohensalzburg Castle and attend at least one concert!
